Why you'll love it
- 512GB unified memory: the CPU, GPU and Neural Engine share one 512GB pool at 819GB/s. Apple says that with up to half a terabyte of unified memory, you can run LLMs with hundreds of billions of parameters entirely in memory, on one machine.
- A configuration Apple no longer sells: Apple removed the 512GB memory option for Mac Studio in March 2026.
- Built to cluster: six Thunderbolt 5 ports at up to 120Gb/s. Starting in macOS 26.2, Apple supports RDMA over Thunderbolt 5, which MLX uses to spread one model across several Macs.
- M3 Ultra power: 32-core CPU with 24 performance cores, 80-core GPU with hardware-accelerated ray tracing, and a 32-core Neural Engine.
- Pro connectivity: 10Gb Ethernet, HDMI 2.1, two USB-A ports, an SDXC card slot and support for up to eight displays.
AI on this Mac
With 512GB of memory, this Mac runs everything our smaller Macs run, plus models too large for a laptop. Measured on Mac Studios with this configuration:
- Qwen 3.8 Flash-Next: 193GB peak memory, 26 tokens per second
- GLM 5.3 Flash: 352GB peak memory, 20 tokens per second
Buy both and they can run the largest models we list, split across the two over Thunderbolt 5: GLM-5.3 at 20 tokens per second and DeepSeek V4.1 Flash at 34.
Good for serving a team from one machine, and for long documents and agent work on larger models.
Comes with a free Izuran Pro license. Izuran Pro is our own AI software. We preinstall it as an early preview, and you can update it when new versions come out.
